Phenergan medication belongs to a group of drugs called phenothiazines. It works by changing the actions of chemicals in your brain. Promethazine (the main active ingredient of the drug) also acts as an antihistamine. It blocks the effects of the natural chemical histamine in your body.
Pharmacologic effect. It has a strong antihistamine activity (more active than aminazin and diphenhydramine) and a sedative effect.
Indications for use are allergic diseases, rheumatism with a pronounced allergic component, allergic complications caused by drugs, itchy dermatosis, Meniere's disease. Phenergan pill is used to treat symptoms of allergies such as itching, runny nose, sneezing, itching or watery eyes, urticaria, and itchy skin. Phenergan also prevents motion sickness and treats nausea, vomiting or pain after surgery. It is also used as a sedative or sleep aid.
Contraindications include the following cases:
•State of intoxication;
•It should not be taken while working for transport drivers. Phenergan should not be given to a child under 2 years of age. Phenergan can cause serious breathing problems or death in young children. Follow your doctor's instructions carefully when you give this medicine to a child of any age.
Restrictions on use are symptoms of jaundice, prostatic hypertrophy, susceptibility to urinary retention, bladder neck stenosis, open-angle or angle-closure glaucoma, peptic ulcer with pyloroduodenal obstruction, diseases of the lower respiratory tract, bone marrow function suppression, cardiovascular disease (severe angina pectoris, arterial hypertension, decompensated chronic heart failure, atrial fibrillation), epilepsy, sleep apnea syndrome, pregnancy and breastfeeding, old age.
Phenergan side effects include dry mouth, nausea, a sharp drop in blood pressure.
