Common use
It is used in treatment of infections caused by pinworm, whipworm, hookworm and roundworm. Its active component mebendazole prevents worms from growing or multiplying in your body.
Dosage and directions
Take Vermox exactly as it was prescribed to you by your doctor with a full glass of water.
Precautions
Follow all instructions of your doctor about treatment, washing of linens, clothing, and towels as pinworm infections are easily spread from one person to another.
Contraindications
Discuss with your doctor all conditions that you may have before starting to take Vermox. It's not recommended to take the medicine if you are pregnant or could become pregnant during treatment. It's not knowing whether Vermax passes into breast milk. Do not take it without doctor's approbation if you are breastfeeding. Children younger than 2 years old should not take mebendazole.
Possible side effect
If you experience such allergic reactions as hives, swelling of your lips, tongue, closing of your throat, shortness of breath, seek medical attention immediately. Also less serious side effects may occur such as abdominal pain, diarrhoea o fever. If you experience them continue to take Vermox and tell you doctor about them.
Drug interaction
The effects of Vermox may be decreased by medicines for seizures such as ethotoin (Peganone), phenytoin (Dilantin), mephenytoin (Mesantoin), and carbamazepine (Tegretol). Discuss with your doctor before taking any prescribed or over-the-counter medicines, including vitamins, minerals, and herbal products.
Missed dose
If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.
Overdose
Symptoms of a Vermax overdose are vomiting, nausea, diarrhoea, abdominal pain. Seek medical attention immediately if an overdose is suspected.
Storage
Store at room temperature below 86 degrees F (30 degrees C) away from light and moisture. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep all medicines away from children and pets.
