Minipress is used in treatment of hypertension either alone or in combination with other antihypertensive drugs (diuretics or beta-adrenergic blocking agents) and also of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). It contains prazosin hydrochloride.
Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not miss doses as irregular intake increases the risk of high blood pressure. Do not stop taking this medication without permission of your doctor even if your symptoms improved. Usual recommended dose of Minipress is 1 mg two or three times a day. It maybe gradually increased up to 20 mg daily dose given in divided doses.
Minipress cannot be used in patients with hypersensitivity to its components, quinazolines, prazosin, or other similar medicines such as doxazosin and terazosin.
Seek immediate medical attention if you experience dizziness, drowsiness, headache, nausea, palpitations (pounding heartbeat), lack of energy, weakness.
Never take a double dose of this medication. If it is almost time of the next dose just skip the missed portion and continue to take the medicine according to the schedule.
If you feel profound drowsiness, depressed reflexes, and low blood pressure and suspect overdosing seek immediate medical attention.
Tablets of Minipress should be stored at room temperature between 15-30 C (59-86 F).
